Audition

(1999 / R)

I had heard nothing but hype for this movie... I had heard about how terribly disturbing and sick this film was supposed to be... Well there is maybe 15 minutes in this film where the movie lives up to the hype. The rest I honestly couldn't give a shit about cuz it was so slow and boring, and didn't make any fucking sense!

The story revolves around this middle-aged father whos wife has been dead for a few years. He has an older son who thinks the dad needs to meet another woman and get remarried. The dad has a friend who happens to be in the movie business, and he convinces the dad to hold a fake audition to lure women in, and then ask them questions to determine which of them he'd want to marry.

Well he reluctanly goes along w/ the plan, ends up falling for one of the girls (even though his film-industry buddy doesn't have a good feeling about her), and ends up seeing her. She is a shy, strange girl who seems to be lying about her past. The dad still falls for the girl even though she is obviously psycho... and not psycho like she's just a big bitch psycho... psycho as in mentally unstable and should be locked away somewhere.

All this leads to the only good 15 minutes of the movie where the girl graphically and brutally tortures the dad. But trust me, if you rent this video just fast forward to the end, cuz you needn't have seen the first 90 minutes of this film to enjoy and/or understand any better the ending!

2 Bruce Campbell heads is all I can muster on this one.
