City of the Living Dead(1980 / R)
I've admittedly waited a very very long time to write this review... so much so that I had to go to imdb.com to remember what the plot was:
"In the small New England town of Dunwich, a priest commits suicide by hanging himself in the church cemetary which somehow opens the gates of hell allowing the dead to rise. Peter, a New York City reporter, teams up with a young psychic, named Mary, to travel to the town where they team up with another couple, psychiatrist Jerry and patient Sandra, to find a way to close the gates before All Saints Day or the dead all over the world will rise up and kill the living." (this is copied and pasted directly from imdb.com...because I'm lazy and the movie obviously wasn't worth remembering.)
What I DO remember about the film is that it definately had a dark mood to it. It was a somewhat creepy film at times. But all I can remember is mood. That's not good. I didn't think the movie was terrible, but I didn't think it was anything special.
Here's the thing that really bothered me though.. These zombies were way too supernatural for me. I want my walking dead to be bound by the basic laws of physics. I don't want them to be able to randomly teleport from here to there! Zombies don't just appear from thin air in the blink of an eye!
Average at best.
