The movie is exactly the length of a DV Tape and a sub-plot is established by showing bits and pieces of video previously recorded on the tape that is being recorded over. The movie starts as a monster of unknown origin destroys a building. As they go to investigate, parts of the building and the head of the Statue of Liberty come raining down. The monster from Cloverfield would kick the shit out of Godzilla. In fact I challeng any of you to show me a previous movie monster that this thing would not kick the shit out of! This monster it truly wicked looking, and I am sooo glad they did not just do a Godzilla rip-off. This movie has got a good story, good effects, and good scares. If you can stomach the a movie thats very shakey (i.e. the beginning of Saving Private Ryan, or the Blair Witch Project) for the entire film, and you even remotely like monster movies, then you definately should see this film. Worth the hype.
