Is it just me, or did any of the rest of you snicker when reading the overview for this film? ("wacking them off one by one"). I still chuckle at "boobs" and "poop" too if you are wondering.
Okay, so I had decided a while back to try and go back in time to the heyday of the slasher genre. I realized that outside of the Friday the 13th and Halloween, that I'd not seen the majority of the early 80s slasher films. A lot of them were considered quite good in their day (though they are probably incredibly dated today). So I felt it my obligation to go back and try and watch these "classics" that I had overlooked for so many years.
Terror Train stars Jamie Lee Curtis (remember, she used to be scream queen) and David Copperfield (who still may be some sort of queen..I'm not sure). It takes place on a train (as the title accurately indicates). It's got sex, it's got booze, and it's got a masked mad-mman. It's got all your typical slasher tropes.
I can see why this was considered one of the better slasher films of its day, but unfortunately I watched it in 2008 and I have to review it based on how I felt about it then...not how I would have felt about it had i seen it when I was 3 years old back in 1980. That being said this was just an average slasher flick. Not the worst I've ever seen, and certainly not the best. If you are like me and want to have seen all the "classics" then you must watch this film. For all others I'd have to say pass.
